Make an adorable - reversible! - patchwork heart bag in two sizes, with my PDF sewing pattern and tutorial! I've made this tutorial as easy and clear as possible, so even if you're an absolute beginner, you WILL be able to do it! (I wrote this with my 11-year-old kid in mind!)
Every step is super detailed with simple directions and tons of PHOTOS. Includes instructions for the heart block, a bonus charm square block, and a simple one-piece back. You'll pick up basic quilting skills along the way, like making half-square triangles and your own DIY bias tape. (Don't worry, I explain all of this in the tutorial!)
These blocks are pieced "normally" with a sewing machine; no complicated foundation paper piecing or English paper piecing baloney! ;) The bag comes together on a basic sewing machine. No tedious hand sewing required!
The finished Regular bag is around 6"x6"x4", and the supercute Mini Mini size is about 5"x5"x2". (I'm not a knitter, but my friend says it's perfect for holding knitting yarn!) How cool would it be to make this cute mini tote bag as a way to wrap a gift? (That's what I did -- see below!)
Grab your quilting cotton scraps, precuts (jelly roll, charm square, and fat quarter friendly) and start making these little artsy bags! You'll LOVE them! (little heart joke there) :D
The story of this pattern:
One cold snowy day, on a whim, I wanted to make some scrappy patchwork heart bags as Valentine friendship gifts for my friends. So, I figured out and made these sweet little bags, gave them out at my book club (with candy inside!) and everyone loved them! I decided to make this pattern and tutorial so now YOU can make your own bag however you want!
